The sorting equipment for waste in landfills consists of feeding, screening, and sorting system. Aged mixed waste from the landfill is excavated, transported, and fed into a hopper. It is then conveyed at a constant speed by a chain-plate feeder before entering a trommel screen (with a mesh size of 30/50 mm), where it is separated into two fractions: materials smaller than 30/50 mm (humus-rich soil and fine sand) and materials larger than 30/50 mm.
The materials smaller than 30/50 mm undergo magnetic separation before being stockpiled; the separated metals are recovered for recycling, the humus-rich soil is utilized for landscaping or soil amendment, and the fine sand is processed into recycled aggregates. The materials larger than 30/50 mm are fed into an air separator, where they are sorted into lightweight materials (plastics and textiles) and heavyweight materials (waste masonry and concrete blocks).
